It is the city for lovers, for the romantic, for scholars, and for artists. It is the city of ultra-chic and elegant women. It is a city of wide avenues lined with exclusive shops and fine-dining restaurants, yet it’s also a place where every brick emanates a sense of timelessness and history. This is the City of Light - Paris!

On Top of Paris

It is in every movie ever shot in Paris and it is the landmark that a mention of Paris generally conjures in people’s minds. The Eiffel Tower is 300 meters high (excluding the antenna), was built by Gustav Eiffel and was the world’s tallest structure until the completion of the Chrysler Building in New York.

The Eiffel Tower is breathtaking, especially if you view it from the Trocadero gardens. However, nothing beats the view it offers of the whole city of Paris if you ascend the observation platform at the top of the tower. You will also get an unhampered view of the whole Parc du Champs de Mars from there.

Going Artsy

Paris offers lovers of the arts countless museums. Your tour should definitely include Musée du Louvre whom Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou have scoured in the recent movie, The Da Vinci Code. This museum boasts an exhibition area of more than 60,000 square meters so be sure to take a guided tour or you may not find the famous Mona Lisa or Venus de Milo within the sprawling complex.

The Musée Marmottan Monet, on the other hand, is the repository of the largest collection of Monet’s work. This, however, is not for the general audience for this museum doesn’t hold Monet’s most valuable and acclaimed pieces of work. It is for art students and scholars, rather, for it offers a chronological assembly of Monet’s works so one can follow his technique’s progress through time.

You must also drop by Palais de Chaillot which offers much more than the Trocadero gardens - the favorite Eiffel Tower vantage point. The Palais houses five museums and a theater. You will also get a wonderful view of the River Seine (which you can explore by boat).

All Roads Lead to It

A tour of Paris will not be complete without a visit to the Arc de Triomphe, to which twelve Parisian avenues lead. Go to the top and you’ll be treated to a spectacular view of the Champs Elysées and the network of roads that lead to the Arc.

The Cosmopolitan Soul’s Dream

Where do the ultra-chic women of Paris shop? In the Champs Elysées, that’s where. This major thoroughfare has broad sidewalks and is home to major shopping districts (aside from bordering the President’s residence, the Palais del Elysée). Here, you can shop for exclusive Parisian labels or simple souvenirs. When you feel in need of refreshment, just go sit in any of the sidewalk cafés or posh restaurants along the avenue.
